A Comeback.

Okay, it has been quite a long hiatus and in no way a chosen one. I have ventured into a few different projects and as a result the blog has taken a bit of a backseat. I now hope to update every now and then to bring my views on what is happening in the crazy and wonderful world of sport.
It has come to my attention that the World Athletics Championships are nearly upon us and the games, to be hosted in Dageu, South Korea, will be monumental. Not just because there is the possibility of World Record’s being broken or new faces breaking on to the scene. There is a world first and the light will shine on South Africa.
A Groundbreaking Man

Double amputee, Oscar Pistorius, has been named in the squad to compete at the games. He will compete in the 400m and also feature in the South African 4x400m relay team.
The argument has been a long, drawn-out and quite frankly boring one. Pistorius competes using carbon fibre legs and some have said in the past that this could give him an unfair advantage. He is not an able bodied athlete yet he gives the same amount of determination and has competed against the World’s best and faired not too badly.
More will come in the next week or so about the games but what else have I missed in the last month or two?
A lot and it would take me all day to cover it all. I spent a good few days watching the 14th FINA World Championships. Swimming is where most of my interest lay and one athlete stood out more than any other. Ryan Lochte, representing the USA. He won a total of six medals and five of these were gold. It seems the mantle has been taken away from Michael Phelps and handed to the 27 year-old New York man.
All these events will of course lead up to the London Olympics in 2012. With the ongoing situation you would find it hard to get most of the athletes anywhere near the country but let’s hope that these events will be only a taste of what’s to come next summer.
